Based on the best-selling novel by Ishpeming defense attorney and author John Volker, the courtroom drama is a true story of his experience successfully defending an Army Lieutenant charged with shooting a bartender in Big Bay, Michigan. The film was directed and produced by Otto Preminger and starred Jimmy Stewart and Lee Remick.

The Upper Peninsula Collection consists of material culture artifacts relating to the ethnic, religious and social diversity of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. These include a wide array of artifacts such as household pieces, clothing, arts and crafts, symbolic items, recreational equipment and just about anything that is related to the history of the Upper Peninsula's people.
The Northern Michigan University Collection consists of three-dimensional artifacts from the history of NMU. These include items related to educational, administrative and athletic activities, and student life on campus.

Hiawatha Music Festival

The Hiawatha Festival is the only event of its size and scope in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Each year's event features traditional-music styles that include bluegrass, old-time, Cajun, Celtic, acoustic blues and folk - including singer/songwriters - and dance. Mainstage acts include nationally known performers as well as regional and local favorites.
Marquette Area Blues Society
The Marquette Area Blues Society (MABS) was born July 4, 2003 during the annual fireworks display in Marquette at the Lower Harbor Park.
The Marquette Area Blues Society is a local non-profit organization whose mission is to promote blues music and culture. The group has been responsible for organizing the Marquette Area Blues Fest Labor Day weekend and for bringing national touring blues performers to the area.
